Minecraft Dungeons II guide

Turn an enchantment book into a gear upgrade

Updated September 7, 2026 · Based on announced systems and publisher previews · Releases September 29, 2026

Find enchantment books on adventures, add their effects to your personal library, then use the Enchantsmith to apply an effect to gear. Use the Blacksmith instead when the item needs more power or a different built-in buff.

Before you spend, name the change you want: a library effect, equipment power, or a built-in buff. That one decision tells you which smith matters.

From book to equipped effect

Books found on adventures add effects to a personal library. The Enchantsmith applies an effect to gear, and effects can be upgraded over time. Start with an effect that serves the way you want to play.

Choose the right smith

The Enchantsmith is for a library effect. In the Gamescom preview, the Blacksmith handled equipment power and built-in-buff rerolls. Say the job out loud before spending: power or a built-in buff points to Blacksmith; a library effect points to Enchantsmith.

Blacksmith

Power and built-in buffs

Use this when the item needs more power or a different built-in buff. In the Gamescom preview, power upgrades and built-in buff rerolls lived here.

Enchantsmith

Library effects on gear

Use this only for library effects on gear — not for raising power numbers or rerolling built-in buffs.

Name the job first: power or a built-in buff reroll → Blacksmith; a library effect → Enchantsmith.

Before you spend

The Gamescom preview says applying enchantments through the Enchantsmith needs a down payment made from currency dropped by Soul Corrupted enemies. Save that spend for a piece with a clear role and an effect you expect to use more than once.

Know when to change course

Switch to the Blacksmith if an item already has the right library effect but needs more power or a different built-in buff. Wait when you cannot yet explain what the next effect will help you do. That keeps a new system from becoming an automatic spend.
